In late 2002 the German Metal band Vanize split up and Rolf Munkes, Marcus
Bielenberg and Pierre Fienhold decided to start a new band with a new singer
and a more melodic kind of Metal. So they started writing new songs and
searching for a new singer. After several auditions with German singers who
all were singing in other bands and wanted to work only as a project, it was
obvious to look for one somewhere else.
Accidentally Rolf talked to Neil Murray on the phone in those days and asked
him if he knew a good singer for a new Metal band. And he did; some weeks
before that day Stefan Berggren had left Company Of Snakes and was looking
for a new band. Rolf called Stefan on the phone and sent him a tape with
four new songs. Stefan was enthusiastic when he heard the songs and came to
Germany to record the vocals in Rolf's studio and got to know the other guys
of the band.
After some rehearsals they knew it was the perfect match, only the thickness
in the sound was missing. Therefore Rolf asked an old school mate to play
the second guitar in Razorback. Chris Heun loved the band at first hearing
and became the fifth member in Razorback.
